He was suffering from this rare type of disease since last 6 months. He consulted in other places but didn’t get any assurance from anywhere regarding treatment. The pancreas is a large and very vital organ behind the stomach that produces hormones and enzymes that help digest food. Pancreatic cysts are saclike pockets formed after pancreatitis. In his case the small intestine was divided laparoscopically and the distal limb of the small intestine got connected to the cyst and the proximal intestine got connected to the distal loop of small intestine that too laparoscopically.
The entire surgery went on for 2 and half hour and the cyst on the pancreas was removed successfully leading to survive the rest of the pancreas in a good condition. The entire surgery took 2 and half hour. The man even got discharged from hospital on the 5th day of the surgery. He is now doing well and is living a normal & healthy life.
“Pancreatic cysts can usually be managed conservatively as many of these can be resolved without intervention. But when they develop complications they require surgical drainage. Laparoscopic surgical drainage still remains the gold-standard. Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y cystojejunostomy for pancreas cyst was done on the young boy with satisfactory clinical outcome which helped survive his rest of pancreas”, said Dr. Bijendra Kr.
