A patient hailing from Kishanganj, named Md. Jafir aged 55yrs had suffered a severe cardiac arrest. The patient was in a very critical condition posing difficulty in breathing, while walking, chest pain (angina).
He was then, brought to Neotia Getwel Multispecialty Hospital. The hospital has a dedicated Cardiac Critical care Unit and a full- fledged cardiac team to look after such cardiac emergencies.
The investigations along with CAG (Angiography) were initially conducted by Dr. Rajesh Nanda, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist wherein, the reports revealed that all his three major arteries were blocked, which was certainly a case of Bypass Surgery (CABG). The patient was then, planned for Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) under the skilled supervision of CTVS Surgeon, Dr. Rajeev Trehan, Consultant Cardio Thoracic & Vascular Surgeon (CTVS) and the same was done on 12th July.
CABG is an open-heart surgery that improves blood flow to the heart. Cardiac Surgeons use CABG to treat people who have severe Coronary Heart Disease (CHD). CHD is a disease in which a waxy substance called plaque builds up inside the coronary arteries.
Because of the previous attack the patient was suffering from Dressler’s syndrome in which the heart is densely adhered to its covering & chest valve. It almost took around one and a half hour to free the heart from its surrounding to proceed further with bypass grafting.
The patient has recovered and is in a position to conduct his normal routine work and finally got discharged on 18th of July, 2016 with no complaints.
