Neotia Getwel Multispecialty Hospital organized an Interactive Awareness Talk on Auditory Rehabilitation of the Hearing Impaired followed by the announcement of the launch of Cochlear Implant Programme under the ADIP (Assistance of Disabled Persons) Scheme under the aegies of Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for Speech and Hearing Disabilities (DIVYANGJAN) on 26th February, 2021 at 2:30 IST in recognition of World Hearing Day, 2021.
Dr. Anandabrata Bose, Sr. Consultant – Department of Otolaryngology – Head Neck Surgery, Neotia Getwel Multispecialty Hospital was the main speaker of the awareness talk. Fellow consultants, Dr. Kunzang Doma Bhutia – Consultant – ENT & Dr. Prince Parakh, Consultant – Paediatrics & Neonatology were also presented there.
Dr. Chandan Saha, Audiology & Speech Language Pathology Researcher from Decibel Hearing Clinic, Kolkata & Speech and Hearing Association, West Bengal presented various case studies on his research on deaf children and how they restored their hearing through proper speech treatment and cochlear implant. Around 40 – 45 intellectuals, opinion leaders, and bureaucrats from different aspects of the society participated in the seminar.
Keeping in mind the theme for World Hearing Day, 2021, Neotia Getwel raises awareness on how hearing impairment which affects people in all stages of life and the necessary measurements to detect, prevent & manage such patient through informative education thereby helping the society with proper information so that the society can educate their surrounding community with the same.
A child born in a poor family with hearing disability can be miserable. Through the ADIP scheme, the Government has been reaching out to a large section of children with hearing problem. Neotia Getwel Multispecialty Hospital is glad to declare that they are now empanelled under ADIP scheme which is sponsored by Government of India. “Our motto is to screen the hearing of the poor children, provide proper treatment to the deaf children or the hearing impaired, rehabilitate them and bring them to the normal flow of communication”, said Dr. Anandabrata Bose, Sr. Consultant – Department of Otolaryngology – Head Neck Surgery, Neotia Getwel Multispecialty Hospital during his speech.

This will provide the society with necessary information so that awareness can be created at the community level about hearing impairment.
