Two lives were saved on the same day with Kidney Transplant Donation from family members at Neotia Getwel Multispecialty Hospital’s Kidney transplant unit
A successful kidney transplant enables a chronic kidney disease patient to live a healthy normal life. Neotia Getwel Multispecialty Hospital, Siliguri successfully executed two kidney transplants on 1st April, 2023.It was an unforgettable achievement for the entire Kidney Transplant team of NGMH. The first patient was a resident of Rumtek Monastery, Sikkim. He was 18 years old male suffering from Scleroderma diabeticorum. He also had Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) stage 5 and receiving dialysis since last 7 to 8 months. His donor was his brother, a 20 years old male, resident of Sikkim. The patient was discharged on 10th April, 2023, Monday. The other patient was a middle-age female from West Sikkim. She was suffering from Chronic Glomerulonephritis (CGN). CGN causes long term inflammation to the kidneys which gradually develops over years. However, her husband, a 34 years male donated his kidney to his wife. The patient was discharged on 7th April, 2023. Both of the patients was discharged with safe and stable kidney function.
